More Than a Cooking Experience!

A Hands-on Chinese Cooking Holiday in Beijing

Cooking vegetables in ChinaThis programme is designed for people who genuinely enjoy cooking and want to learn how to prepare Chinese food at home — not just watch a demonstration.

It is especially suited to travellers who already enjoy spending time in the kitchen, are patient with learning new techniques, and are curious about how Chinese food fits into everyday family life.

A Five-Day Blend of Cooking and Culture

Based in Beijing, one of the world’s most important cultural destinations, this five-day programme combines hands-on cooking lessons with visits to major historical sites.

Roughly half of the time is dedicated to cooking, and half to sightseeing.
Arrival and departure days are not included.

Cooking sessions take place in a local family kitchen rather than a commercial school. You will begin each lesson by visiting neighbourhood markets to buy ingredients, followed by preparation, cooking, and shared meals — all under close guidance.

Learn by Doing, Not Watching

This is not a short tourist cooking experience.

Participants are involved at every stage:

  • selecting ingredients

  • washing and preparation

  • understanding basic techniques

  • cooking step by step

  • tasting and adjusting flavours

Supporting learning materials are provided before and after the course to help improve learning efficiency within a short time.

By the end of the programme, most participants are able to cook the dishes they learned at home — and more importantly, adapt what they learned to try new dishes on their own.

Practical Skills You Can Use at Home

All ingredients and kitchen tools used during the course are ordinary household items that can be easily found outside China.

There are no specialised utensils or rare ingredients, making it realistic to continue practising once you return home.

Is This Programme Right for You?

This programme is best suited for:

  • people who enjoy cooking regularly

  • those interested in Chinese food and daily culture

  • travellers who prefer depth over quick experiences

If you do not enjoy cooking or have very limited time to practise afterwards, a Short 2–3 Hour Cooking Experience may be more suitable.

Chinese cooking is not something learned by watching once. It requires attention, practice, and repetition — and this programme is designed for those who value that process.
