Tiananmen Square: Essential Tips for Your Visit to Beijing

🏛️ Tiananmen Square: The Pulse of Modern China

As the world’s largest city-center square (440,000 sqm), Tiananmen Square is the heart of Beijing. Surrounded by monumental Soviet-style architecture and imperial gates, it is a place of immense historical weight. However, it is also the most strictly regulated area in the city.

Expert Strategy: Security here is extreme. If you have limited time or the weather is harsh (extreme heat or cold), we often recommend a “Drive-By” view. You’ll see all the major landmarks from the comfort of your private car without enduring 1-2 hours of security queues.
